Hello Parents & Students!
Topics this week:
Reading AND Writing: Some students are finishing their books and others are completing research to find a book that they are interested in and at their "just right level." They are picking up a log to write down books they would like to read by the end of the year.
We are continuing to review concepts we have learned this year. This week we will focus on comparing poems, drama, and prose.
Grammar: We are still learning about affixes. Students were given a roots packet for homework this week. The students have done a great job identifying these root words in their reading and also defining words that consist of these roots. We are discussing prefixes and suffixes as well. We will also be reviewing topics we have previously learned this year. We will review commonly confused words such as their, they're, there and two, too, too. We will also be reviewing compound and complex sentences.
Reminders:
That's all for now! I know this is the time of year where parents are starting to think of the next steps (for 5th grade.) Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns by emailing me directly at [email protected]

Hope Webster

Reminders:
- On Friday I will be passing out a review folder that the students have been building all year. This folder has a collection of their old notes, handouts, and completed work from this year. This is a great study tool, however, please do whatever you would like with this folder! :)
- ABC Countdown: Less than 26 days left! Please see the attached document to see the fun activities we have planned for the end of the year. This is completely OPTIONAL so do not feel like you have to purchase anything for your child to participate in the fun!
- 4th grade READING AND LANGUAGE ARTS has a NEW WEBSITE! Everything we are learning about, including extra resources will be housed on this new website (for all of 4th grade.) Instead of having resources just for my class, the 4th grade Reading Team decided to spread the love! Here is the link: http://dolvin4threla.weebly.com
- iReady: Fulton County's goal is to strive for students to work on iReady for 45 minutes a week in Reading. I have started to assign this as homework (just 25 minutes at home) and we will continue to work on this program in class. I will be sending home a weekly accountability sheet that students will fill out as they are working on this program.
- CLASSROOM NEEDS: Candy! If you have any candy laying around the house that you would like to donate to our class, I would be more than happy to take it off your hands. The students love incentives!
- Want to volunteer at the next Dolvin Discovery Lab? Email Karen Berry at [email protected] if you would like to help out! It's always a fun time!
