Hello Parents!
Can you believe first semester is almost over? We have had a blast learning new things together.
Topics this week:
Reading: Students are loving their new book club books! Thank you so much for supporting your child's love of reading by helping them find a copy of their book.
We will continue working on comparing themes, topics, and pattern of events in pieces of literature. We will then relate this back to myths, legends, folktales, and fables. We are finishing up our notes which will be added to the reading tab of their binders by the end of the week.
Writing: We have our final Opinion Write Score this week! We will be taking the test online and students will have plenty of time to work on this. Ask your child about our Opinion "Dance" for review! Students will have to read two texts, answer a constructed response, and write an essay. I know they can do it!
Grammar: We have our grammar test this week. The test will cover progressive verbs, helping and linking verbs, prepositions, prepositional phrases, and order or adjectives. There are notes on all of these topics in the language arts tab of your child's binder. Students will take the test when they are ready on either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Reminders:
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.
Have a great week and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
-Hope Webster

Reminders:
- HOMEWORK: Please check your child's agenda every Monday. Homework is assigned on Mondays and due on Fridays. Many students are doing an excellent job completing their work and turning it in to Google Classroom! We typically go over the grammar homework on Fridays and I noticed that some students are not bringing these back to class. Please talk with your child about being 100% Accountable for their learning! My goal is for homework to be a review of skills taught, but if it is too much, PLEASE let me know!
- Want to volunteer at the next Dolvin Discovery Lab? Email Karen Berry at [email protected] if you would like to help out! It's always a fun time!
- Class Party: Our winter party is on Thursday! The kids are SO excited. Thank you to the parent volunteers for making this class party one the kids will always remember!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me.
Have a great week and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
