Hello Parents!
We had a wonderful week continuing our routines and diving deep into the curriculum.
Thank you for coming to Curriculum Night! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed meeting you all! Thanks for helping your child grow into a great fourth grader! They are starting to work independently, collaborating well with other students, cleaning up their work stations, and making transitions run much smoother.
We are having a great start to the year and I am lucky to be your child’s teacher!
DATES TO REMEMBER:
Labor Day- Monday, September 3rd: No School
Book Fair
Preview - 9/5/18
Buying –The following week (date TBD)
Grammar: We will be working on interjecting dialogue using quotations marks and commas into their writing. Also, we will be teaching the students how to recognize Fragments and Run-On’s, in their essays, while writing complete and compound sentences using a conjunction correctly.
Writing: We will continue to work our way through the components of writing a good narrative. We will start to work on producing the rough draft to our personal narratives and composing a good beginning (introduction) paragraph. Our final goal is to write a great 5 paragraph narrative focusing on one small moment. We will eventually type these up and post on their Google Classroom account.
Reading: We have been working on summarizing a story or a text. We will review main idea and details, making connections, and drawing inferences in our reading. We will begin our book clubs this week. Students are SO excited to get started!
